New Years Message
Hi All,Well it's been quite a long time since there has been any updating on this, my loyal old homepage. We can thank my fling with facebook for that. I wanted to take this opportunity to update this page, firstly to pass on a hello and the best regards of my family to you for 2008. As usual, I can cover up my slackness by claiming to have been very busy over the Christmas period and coming to think of it I just may have been in my own way. Most importantly, I'd like to give friends and family (especially the ones not on facebook) the opportunity to catch up with Hunters progress and development. So read on if you care to....
Yes, we survived the first year. On the 20th of December Hunter celebrated his first birthday surrounded by a throng of grandparents, uncles, aunties and two very proud new parents. It has been a wonderful year full of highs, mixed in with some difficult, tiring and downright scary moments, none of which could ever outshine just one of Hunters smiles or little golden moments (usually up to no good).
Within the first year we have seen our little boy grow from a tiny helpless milk guzzler to a warm, boisterous, curious, angelic, devious, loving, rough and playful character. As you may have witnessed in many of my photos throughout the year, Hunter loves his food and is quite a solid little unit quite unlike his dad. He is very fair for a boy with European Sri Lankan (Burgher) heritage but my folks have said he is not too dissimilar to how I was as a little tacker. I guess the Irish and Italian blood helps.
With pride and pleasure we have watched our son achieve all those special "Firsts" that parents before us have knowingly experienced such as the First smile, rollover, words, wave, dry poo, crawl and yes, just recently he took his first steps. In fact on Christmas day he completed six steps. His P.B. at the moment is currently 16 steps. (Stop Press - Make that 35 steps) He's still not confident and only walks when he forgets that he is walking if you know what I mean (when he is excited or in a hurry).
This means that he is currently prone to a few bingles and it is not unusual to see the young guy supporting a few bruises and scratches. You can not take your eye off him because he only seems to be interested in doing dangerous things and hanging out in dodgy locations such as stairs and window ledges.
His favorite toy happens to be my guitar. He is besotted with that damn thing ! He also has this thing about brooms and I wouldn't be surprised if Hunter goes onto become Australia's greatest Janitor.
His hair was growing wild there (to make up for mine) but we have now given him his first haircut and he can see clearly again.
He had a ball when we went down the coast for the festive season. He loved the beach, at times to our dismay. He became prone to an outburst if you dragged him away from the water. This kid has some lungs on him and if he's not satisfied with a certain situation, he has no issues with letting you know about it along with the rest of the neighborhood.
Thankfully Hunter has been pretty healthy although he seems to have developed a little wheeze and we had to take the little man to hospital not long ago when he was having a tough time breathing. He's been better since but we'll have to keep an eye on that. We are starting some swimming in February.
Well I guess I better get some photo's up. It's been a while and as you will see he's grown. 10.5 KG's infact.
Grace and I are loving parenthood and I am even having a break from playing cricket this season to spend more time at home. 2007 saw us move into our first stand alone home, so there's some work to be done.
Before I sign off, please don’t forget to have a great year. Best wishes from the Solomons Family.

This is what we wake up to from time to time. It's 6.00am and he's ready and raring to take the day on.
“Ok, so the bunny suit is so yesterday but everyone goes a bit warm and fuzzy when I wear it so who am I to spoil their fun” -Hunter at 34 weeks".
Hey Dad, enough of those funny love songs you keep playing for me, I’ll make the music in this house from now on” - Hunter at 33 weeks. He has been somewhat fascinated by the guitar and its sounds from Day 1.
Look, I can do it myself, uhm that's because it's empty little fella - 32 weeks.
Always reaching for everything now at 30 weeks.
Including other peoples hands.

Happy just to roll around on the floor at 28 weeks.
Another happy moment at 27 weeks. I'm now a healthy but solid 10 Kg's.
Hunter hits 6 months on the day of this photo (20th) and loves to test those chunky pins out !
Hunter at 4 Months - already a Saint ???
HUNTER'S DIARY
05.10.07 - After threatening for quite some time, the cheaky little fella has started to crawl and is into everything that he hasn't already been into. You can't take your eye off him for a minute now that he's on the move. Seemingly he's attracted to every sharp section or object in the house. He's a very happy little character though. Every minute with him is pure joy, perhaps we exclude nappy changes !
16.08.07 - Sorry, I haven’t given you all an update for a while, I’ve been really busy playing, feeding and generally trying to get cuddled by everyone. We moved into our new house after staying with Nonno, Nan Nan and Lauren in Illawong for three months. That was great but I like my new room. I’m getting better at sleeping in the night now because daddy said I was “killing him”, well ain’t that a joke ! He’s the one that passed on the Flu to me. That thing lasted over 2 weeks. That was not fun. I think I’ll start moving around soon. I can manage going backwards a little, just need to work how to get out of reverse gear. Well that’s all from my 8 month / 10.5 KG self. I’ll try to catch up with you all sooner. Thanks for dropping by. Love, The Huntman.
20.06.07 - Well, I'm now 6 months old I'm thinking there's more of those damn shots to come. I'm regularly saying dadda but just to keep them all guessing I call everyone dadda even a toy lion. As you can see I can stand with a bit of help but I don't crawl yet because it's just too much hard work lugging my big body around. I have enough servents to cart me around anyway and it helps keep daddy fit, kinda !
09.05.07 - We have moved out of my very first home and are temporarily staying with Nonno Russo, Nan Nan and Lauren in Illawong. It's great, now I have 5 people at once to fuss over me. I like banging on their piano too. I'm also starting to eat some solids and dad reckons my nappies are getting worse to change.
20.04.07 - I'm 4 months today and we celebrated by going to the doctors for more needles in the legs. My dad says I'm the next Mark O'Mealy because I didn't cry and I already weigh 9 kg's (68cm tall). We recently came back from my first trip to Batemans Bay. It made a nice change to have a different backdrop to feed to.
14.03.07 - I've hit the 12 week old mark today. My dad was out celebrating some cricket thing and had a bad hangover on Monday morning so I saved a big surprise in my nappy for him. Mummy knew this so as punishment, mummy told dad to get out of bed and change my nappy. Daddy grumbled a bit but eventually took me off for a change. When daddy took my nappy off he yelled a word that I've never heard before and then started making these funny noises from his mouth. Mum and I had lots of fun !
16.02.07 - Ok, so some bloke pricked me in my chunky legs with 2 needles. Immunisation Shots they call it. Well what sort of set up is that. People saying things like "you've got to be cruel to be kind". Not that happy really, that was until mum offered me a feed. Then I forgot about the whole ordeal quick smart.
06.02.07 - More photo's and comments added.
10.01.07 - I'm three weeks old today. This chick came over to our house and checked me out completely. They say I've gone from 50cm to 53.5cm tall and I've put on a lazy KG. My penchant for feeding is leaving me pretty restless at the moment. Dad wants to invent a fart machine so I don't get pains in my guts after every meal. Mum reckons I'm a guzzler just like my father.
08.01.07 - They refer to me at times as the "Pooing Machine" so I try not to let them down. I shot one out at Daddy the other day when he was changing my nappy. I heard him tell mum that it would have hit him in the guts from 5 metres away it had so much velocity. Better out than in I say. They then took me for my first walk in my stroller. You should have seen them trying to put this thing together. Who have I got for parents here !
28.12.06 - Took my first trip to Kingsgrove Sports Centre today and picked up my first cricket bat. Showed my utter excitement by sleeping through virtually the whole experience. I've now been here for over a week and these are the things I like -
Being fed / Boobs, Sleep, Listening to Guitar, Riding over the shoulder when I have wind and trying to pee on mum or dad when they are changing me.
I can't stand -
Having my nappies changed, Being naked, not being near a boob and knowing that mum and dad are sleeping properly.
25.12.06 - Merry Christmas every one. I gave mum and dad a nice gift firstly by giving them some decent sleep and then I gave them an hour in their bed with no crying, no pooing, no feeding, no pains just looking around and being happy. My dad just kept staring at me and I can safely say that I now own him. He keeps saying that I have a good grip when I grab his finger and something about batting for Australia. We are now off to meet some more relo's - I seem to have alot !
24.12.06 - I've put on 60 grams after intitialy losing 40. Mothers milk is starting to work for me now. It gave me tummy pains at first but now we are as one ! We then made a break for home and I'm happy here.
23.12.06 - Mum and I had a much better night. I really like feeding. Mum says I have an appetite like Dad. My eyes are opening much better now and I'm really checking these two out. They seem like they're having fun. I hope I don't get Daddy's nose.
22.12.06 - Bit of a rough night but the day brought lot's of visitors, flowers and gifts and I was on my best and sleepiest behaviour. I had a hearing test and all is "A Ok" so I'm ready to listen to Daddy punish with his guitar. Perhaps uncle Rob will come over with his guitar and make things sound a little better.

Little Hunter arrived on Wedsnesday at 4.47pm weighing 3.2kg's (7 pound 4) and 50cm long. As you can see the little fella has way more hair than his old man !

Grace, Hunter (Artist formely known as "The Chili Bean") and I would like to wish everyone a wonderful Christmas. Thank you to everyone for their care, support and well wishes over the last year. It's been fantastic and we are so blessed to have such wonderful family and friends.

A couple of very proud Dad's - That's Chadd and Kristie's 6 week old daughter Bonnie. This is the photo that causes the greatest for onlookers. They say a few years ago they would have been stubbies in our hands not babies.
