MERRY CHRISTMAS AND HAPPY NEW YEAR TO EVERYONE

2009 has been another wonderful year for me and my family. It started with the birth of my little daughter, Luca Bella in Feb 2009.

Obviously with two children the challenges are greater but we feel blessed to have such healthy and happy kids. Albeit a bit crazy, yes both of them.

I have changed roles slightly at work and am now really focussed on improving the way we do things at the Cricket Academy. I am also still managing our website. I'm really enjoying my coaching and am really proud of my students and their efforts and commitment. Many of them have been with me for a good number of years and their hard work is paying off with some brilliant results at decent levels.

Personally I have had to hang the cricket boots up for a while in order to make up a full day that I can spend with the kids. However, I am still heavily involved with St George as a member of the Management Committee. I am very proud of the way the club is travelling at the moment and next season promises to be a ripper as we celebrate our CENTENARY. My love for the club was recently underlined in a small article in the Jan. 10 edition of Inside Cricket.

Not playing provides me a with a little more time to jam with Hunter who has taken a real shine to music and playing any instrument he can get his hands on. His favourite are the drums which he was gifted for his 3rd B'day. A beautiful set of black Ashton "Junior" Drums which I'm still trying to piece together. The longer I take, the less commotion is made. He also loves to rock out with his guitars and occasionally tinkles away on his little Piano and mic. Yes, he sounds spoilt with all these instruments but that's what happens when you've got the best grandparents in the world (x 8). He also loves his cricket and loves to bowl off a very, very long run up and is keen to get to Hurstville Oval as often as possible (when it is not so hot).

I am also the proud owner of recently "made over" yards. What an improvement to my humble little home. I love my new lawns (Sir Walter of course) and especially my little "vege" patch which has been yielding, Tomatoes, Chillies, Parsley and Lettuce left, right and centre. What a boring old bugger I've become but I really do love it. Many of you will recognise my other passion is to be the biggest possible nuffy on Facebook ever !

Now to my "Beautiful Light" Luca Bella. I'm wearing massive daddy's eyes here but she is S-P-E-C-I-A-L ! A gorgeous nature (when there's no food around) and is just generally happy go lucky although there are signs that she will be a little tempestuous like her feisty mother. Luca is now over 10 months old and is talking in her own language most of the time but does say Mumma, Dad Dad, Unta and big Mmmmm's when she's eating. She really really does love her food. She's also crawling around now. Well it is more like dragging around, there's just one leg not quite with the programme but it's slowly starting to get the idea. I am still so grateful to my beautiful wife for presenting me with such gifts.

Well folks, that is pretty much it out of the young Solomons camp at Casalanka. Again, all the best for a "rip snorta" of a Christmas and may 2010 be a year of fulfilled dreams and ambitions.

NEWS ARCHIVE

25.02.09 - It was just after 3.00PM on Friday the 20th of Feb. when the push came to .... well PUSH and amazingly by 3.29 Grace and I were the proud parents of a cute little girl with dimples.
Luca Bella Solomons weighed in at 2.95KG and 48CM from top to toe.
Our "Beautiful Light" cried solidly for 30 mins and really hasn't cried much since, although she does get a little toey when it's time for a feed.
To all that remember, little Luca looks alot like Hunter when he was born. Speaking of which, I'm frequently asked this, Hunter has handled everything rather well for a two year old. He is very loving although a little heavy handed, but that's all a part of the learning curve for the little fella. He's taken it all in his stride and pretty much remains on his very own agenda most of the time.
After less than three days in hospital my extremely amazing wife and little daughter were home. Gracies recovery was nothing short of awesome. An hour after giving birth she had a shower and then walked to her room where we were soon greeted by almost 20 family members.
Finally, to all the well wishers, Thank you for your messages and thoughts. I apologise if you are only just finding out. Many of you I have since found out missed my original text as there seems to have been an issue with some of the groups of people I sent them to ie. they didn't send. Probably just me being hopeless.
If interested stay posted for future updates.

23.12.08 - Below we have some recent shots of Hunter. As you can see they are a good example of before and after his very first haircut. The post haircut shots are at his 2nd Bday Party with the family where he was just loving his cake ! As you can see from the B/W photo, he loves a good jam session. He scored a little toy drumset for his B'day and is getting a new guitar for Christmas. He's really starting to get his "Words" on too ! His favorite bands are Coldplay, Living End and The Presets. Grace tells me he enjoys a bit of Andre Bocelli and Andre Rieu. Can't vouch for that one !

Cont...
All is going well with Grace's pregnancy. Chili Bean #II is expected to fulfill our lives sometime after February 2009. Grace has done it a little tough this time and as I currently write is quite massive the poor girl. Right out the front !!! I almost get the sense that she is almost the size she was when she was full term with Hunter. Only 2 months to go my lady.

Everything is going well in regards to work, home life and cricket. I'm loving fatherhood. We are pretty much past the halfway mark of what will probably be my final full season of cricket. Finding it tough but enjoying the challenges and taking the odd wicket here and there. Scored a few too many ducks for my liking - perhaps my eyes are telling me a few things. I know the rest of my body is !

As you will see in the below photo's I have taken part in some great events involving some unique folks. Life's pretty fun really.

Talk soon !

Pictures .... 1. Adam Spencer (Media Personality, former Triple J Presenter) at Victor Trumper game at Sydney Cricket Ground
2. Stuart MacGill (Retired Australian Cricket, TV Presenter) at V.T. game at SCG
3. Andrew Daddo (TV Personality) at V.T. game at SCG
4. Tim Farriss (INXS Guitarist) post V.T. game inside SCG Home dressing room
5. Interviewing Michael Clarke at KSC In-store appearance
6. The Kings Wedding !

11.11.08 - Sorry Folks, have been relatively slack and / or busy with other things of late so there hasn't been much updating here of late (bloody Facebook !!!)

Anyhoo, I'm back playing cricket with St George, captaining the 3rds. Slow start but are now back in contention. As always have lost the plot with the bat but I'm used to that. The body also sees things differently and is keen for me to retire again.

The biggest news at the moment is the pending wedding and most importantly "bucks" festivitites for "The King" aka Troy Small. Pretty keen to get out of November alive but not sure if this will actually happen.

....oh, and Grace and I are expecting another !!!
