Huart Hamilton of Florida, USA
1. Name - Huart George Hamilton
2. Date of Birth - 07/23/1962
3. Place of Birth - Cheesefield District, Saint Catherine, Jamaica W.I.
4. Current Location - Lake Worth, Florida
5. Who do you play cricket for - United Sports Club
6. In what capacity - All rounder
7. Best Cricket feats - 6 for 20; 65 runs (I am not a prolific scorer; I play long innings but a little too conservative).
8. Greatest Cricket moment / memory - Winning the South Saint Catherine championship for home district back in Jamaica in 1981.
9. Tell us little about your cricket history - I started out back in primary school at the age of about 9 yrs. old. I remembered I was ran out for a duck in one of my earlier games and I cried. I played in the evenings after school with my friends in our district and on the week ends. I remembered we use to use unripped orange balls and bats made out of coconut branch. Sometimes on the week ends we use to arranged matches and we pool money together and asked a kind taxi driver to buy us a corked ball for that day's game. After primary school, I went to an All Age School where I continued to play and develop my skills somewhat. I then moved on to high school namely Saint Catherine High, and there from my first physical education class, I was recruited for both the Colts league and senior school boy league namely Sunlight Cup. I played Colts my freshman year in high school and then Sunlight all through out (1977-1980). I made several 50s,and I was invited to the "All Sunlight Cup" trials with such notables as Courtney Walsh, Patrick Patterson, Robert Haynes, and Marlon Tucker. Unfortunately I was not selected for the Jamaica youths but it was a wonderful experience. After High school, I continue to play for my home district where we would play many invitational games with teams from neighboring districts and so on. We entered and won the Alcan Jamaica LTd. sponsored South Saint Catherine competition the two years they sponsored it. It's interesting to add that for the first championship in 1981, I won the most promising player award, and received nice bowling shoes. One of my fellow teammates went on to play for Jamaica, namely Fedrick Redwood. I migrated to the United States in August of 1985 and played sparingly at first. Unfortunately, I did not even play for a seven year stretch, but I finally got back into the game in 1997, and I have playing ever since. Currently, cricket is very popular in South Florida, and they have both a forty five over competition and a 30 over competition, so the game is played all year round. Honestly, I am a sportsman, and I like most sports. I enjoy soccer, table tennis, track and field and now living in America I enjoy the American sports like football and basketball, but truly my first love is cricket. It is noteworthy to add that even though I am getting older, I find myself wanting to really understand and truly develop the proper techniques of the game in every facet. I watch the professionals, and I even buy technique developmental stuff from Kingsgrove. It's better late than never. I think for the first time I am beginning to be able to learn the game the right way, and as time goes on, I am expecting to add more practicing equipment to better my game. Its important to me, because all these things were inaccessible when I was younger. Personally, as long as I am able bodied and healthy, I will always play the game. I see my myself playing competitively for a few more years, but I will always play invitational games and holiday games. When it comes to cricket, I am a purist.
