Greg Rummans of Dubbo, NSW, Australia

1. Name - Greg Rummans
2. Date of Birth - 28.02.1975
3. Place of Birth - Sydney NSW AUSTRALIA
4. Current Location - Dubbo, NSW
5. Who do you play cricket for - Newtown
6. In what capacity - Opening Batsman
7. Best Cricket feats - Being part of the first Newtown side to win a Whitney Cup (local competition). The club had lost 14 or 15 grand finals over the years and never won one. 165 not out is my highest but making a hundred in a 4th grade semi after burning my captain badly in a run out (sorry Jacko) would be my best memory.
8. Greatest Cricket moment / memory - Steve Waugh's 100 at the SCG vs England - Spine tingling
9. Tell us little about your cricket history - Started as a youngster with Kingsgrove United then moved on to the St George club, now with Newtown in the dubbo competition, open to future offers!
10. Favorite Teams - St George and the mighty Newtown
11. Favorite Players - Love the work of Chris Gayle & Virender Sehwag, of course Tendulkar. (Brother) Graeme Rummans (Current Victoria) goes ok. Viv Richards was an idol as a youngster.
12. Favorite Commentator - Kerry O’Keeffe
13. Favorite Cricketing Publication - Inside Cricket
14. Favorite Cricketing Website - Baggy Green
15. Favorite Cricketing Brand - MRF
16. Tell us about the best bat you've ever had - Currently using an MRF (picked by Hamish), the best thing I’ve ever had, wish I had one when I was 10 although would have struggled to lift it!
17. Tell us a little about the cricket competition/s you play in - I play in the local Dubbo District competition, 6 local sides, we play on excellent turf wickets. Quite a few hackers but a lot of ex Sydney grade players so the standard is quite high. We also play a few day/nighters which is great fun - the white ball really flies of the bat.
18. What ideas would you propose to improve the game of cricket - I like the game as it is, but any change that rewards attacking play would do me.
19. What are your thoughts on the sledging issue - Let them sledge, but give them microphones so TV viewers can listen in!
20. Who do you rate as being the best in the last 20 years -
Batsman - Sachin Tendulkar
Bowler - Shane Warne
WK - Nathan Pilon
Allrounder - Imran Khan, best innies
Captain - Stephen Fleming
21. Have you ever had professional cricket coaching - Yes a few sessions
22. What is the best tip you've had or given - Play in the V and bat in 10's (neither of which i am capable of)
23. What is your most treasured cricketing item - My St George caps and my MRF bat!
24. Is there are song you love that you relate to cricket - I listen to Counting Crows or Green Day CD's on the way to a game as a ritual.
25. Best Cricket Video you've seen - Deano (Dean Jones)on dvd
26. Best Cricket Book you've read - Mark Waugh's last effort
27. Best Cricket After dinner speaker you've seen - Bill Lawry, classic - very funny human
28. Best / Nicest cricketer you've met - Michael Slater is a standout, really nice bloke. I've met a few players over the years and most have been nice but Slater tops them.
29. What other interests do you have outside of cricket - I have my own business, a surfwear shop which keeps me busy until Saturdays, Rugby League, AFL - most sports.
30. How did you come across Kingsgrove Sports Centre - My father KEN took my brother and I as youngsters to the "local sports store" in Kingsgrove, we loved the place - still do! it's like "Disneyland for cricketers" hopefully my kids will be cricketers so they can have the same experiences I did.
31. Your Final say - My brother went for a job interview just after he left school, all he knew was cricket at that stage. He was asked in the interview what his strengths were, as is common in an interview. His reply was....well, i'm pretty stong off my legs....I don't remember the rest of the story I buckled over in a fit of laughter at that stage. Still cracks me up to this day.
